About us

With over 30 years of experience in education, Michelle has served as a teacher, instructional specialist, and assistant principal in Maryland. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives as a testing coordinator, special education chair, and helped transform her school’s English Language Development program. Fluent in both Spanish and English, she has effectively supported multilingual learners and their families throughout her career.

Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland and a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision. She is also certified in ESOL and Special Education.

As a first-generation college graduate and parent of two college students—a senior at the University of South Carolina and a junior at the University of Maryland—Michelle understands both the challenges and rewards of the college admissions journey. She brings empathy, insight, and practical experience to help students and families approach the process with confidence and clarity.

In addition to her college planning expertise, Michelle has extensive experience supporting families through the special education process. As an assistant principal, she managed the child referral process and led hundreds of IEP meetings, helping students access the resources they need to succeed.

Since retiring from MCPS, Michelle has remained dedicated to guiding families—offering personalized support in early childhood education, special education advocacy, and college admissions planning.

Michelle's knowledge and experience really shine through when working with special education students. She never seems to run out of ideas! She also presents solutions respectfully and collaboratively, rather than as a top-down mandate, which helps everyone get on board. Her unfailing warmth and professionalism make meetings productive for staff and families. And most of all, she is devoted to the students she works with, even when there are many barriers to overcome. I greatly enjoyed working with Michelle. Thanks to her expertise, I always felt free to ask questions and I knew my voice would always be heard.
